The Review

The Cabin In the woods is an exhilarating, fresh new look on your modern slasher. It's unpredictable, jumpy and it definitely messes with your head. Although the film seems very stereotypical, it also has a new, never-seen-before aura. With the strange office workers watching the teens' every move, and literally luring them to their death, it was like a fresh of breath air. A new look on the boring slop we usually see.

I personally felt the film has done it's justice, I was drawn in (and jumped a few times too) and would definitely go to see a sequal. It was dark, mysterious and extremely gory. It also had a comedic side, some office banter, betting and the predictable pot smoker, who, not actually understanding what's happening, seems to be the most intelligent one in the group. Some scenes may make you feel a bit queasy, some make you laugh and some may just make you want to scream "run!!" at your TV. It's brilliant, scary, funny and an absolute heart racer.

Kristen Connolly portrays her role flawlessly. With brilliant acting, and a fantastic fight scene, this might have just been her big break she was hoping for. Her role as Dana, the innocent girl who never takes risks, who is just getting over her sordid affair with her high school teacher really catches the audiences eye and brings emotion. And not forgetting Chris Hemsworth, playing as Curt the typical high school jock who's girlfriend is the popular blonde, who's seems very upfront and confident. Both Hemsworth and Hutchison play the characters beautifully, and may just get away with the fact that they both look a little too old to be playing high school students. Fran Kranz - who play's Marty has to be the steal of the film. His wit and charms just make you smile. He's funny, smart, and knows how to get out of a bad situation, eventually saving the day.

In conclusion, The Cabin In The Woods is a huge success. It has a brilliant storyline, fantastic acting, and a killer ending. Definitely recommended.
